The Rickets -

The Rickets were an old school hardcore punk band that existed from1990-1996. Most of their time was spent on Bainbridge Island, WA, but in their later years they bounced around from Olympia WA to Oakland CA, to Portland OR. Throughout their existence they had many line up changes with Larry Rickets being the only consistent member for the full 6 years. The Rickets did one 2 and half month U.S. tour and numerous west coast tours playing with the likes of Rancid and the Swinging Utters. The Rickets released 7 different 7 inch records, but unfortunately never a full length album. That will be rectified sometime in the future when Puke Records releases The Rickets 37 song anthology.

LARRY-

After The Rickets broke up Larry was completely fed up with dealing with slacker musicians. Rather than sit around and bitch about it, Larry took all of the new and current songs he had for The Rickets and recorded all of the instruments by himself. The result was the legendary one man band selftitled "LARRY" 7 inch. Most people could not and still can't get over the genius 7 inch cover with Larry doing a rock pose with his guitar in front of an outline of Washington state. Unfortunatly they missed out on the great content of hardcore punk rock contained on the vinyl. Picture a heavier, angrier sounding Rickets. Later on Larry recruited a backing band called the gonowheres and released a full length album titled "LARRY and the gonowheres". On this album the songs were really sped up and punchy compared to the previous solo 7 inch. After the gonowheres quit because of the strain of one west coast tour Larry recruited Justin Mo Cheeks of Maurices Little Bastards on drums and Owen of The Trots on bass. They did a couple of tours with this lineup, returning to the original "LARRY" name. Larry also did one more solo 7inch titled "Do You Wanna Hate Me?", playing all the instruments himself again.

The Trots-

The Trots were a 2 piece punk rock-n-roll band consisting of Larry Rickets and King Owen. They existed from October of 1996 to October of 2000. Throughout their existence they released the "No Holds Barred" demo tape, the "... it's what's for dinner" CD, and the "Walk the Plank" 7 inch. Unfortunately the Trots lived in Seattle at a time when most of the music community looked down on punk rock. Because of the Trots rowdy and violent live shows Lori Voodoo and another horrible promoter named Meg tried to have them banned from Seattle for life. Their most notable show was with the U.K. Subs at the Rock Candy where their temporary bass player Gabe (of Murder City Devils fame ) was thrown out for diving on the crowd naked. Meanwhile a wrestling match ensued onstage while Owen and Larry berated the crowd by spitting on everyone and throwing beer bottles at them. The plug was pulled, security "ushered" the Trots off the stage, and Katrina, the promoter was left crying. The Trots took it all in stride, as Charlie Harper from the U.K. Subs pulled Larry aside and told him "it was the most punk rock set i've seen from a band in years." Owen went on to play in the Royal Pains from Seattle, and Larry Rickets is most recently playing in Jesus Fucking Christ based out of Oakland.

Hell After Dark-

After Larry relocated to Oaklan California he played guitar and sang in a short lived east bay super group called Hell After Dark. Hell After Dark also had Jon Sumrall (Econochrist) on guitar, and Carl (His Hero Is Gone) on bass, and Jason (The Enemies) on drums. This band had a powerful, intense, loose, hardcore feel to it. Unfortunately Hell After Dark only played about 6 shows. They never recorded, leaving us only to imagine what these 4 masterminds could come up with. After Jason the drummer was offered to join U.K. Subs, Jon and Carl decided to throw in the hat too, thus ending Hell After Dark. Larry later used some Hell After Dark songs with his new band, Jesus Fucking Christ.

Deadly Weapons-

Deadly Weapons was a band that contained 2 Bainbridge Island punk rock veterans. Justin MoCheeks of Maurices Little Bastards on drums, and Larry Rickets on guitar. A Canadian named Erin McDermott played bass, and Tina from the Bobbyteens sang vocals and rounded out the lineup. Although they were only together for about 2 years they were quite prolific. They released two 7 inch records, one split 7 inch with the Husbands, and one full length album on Jonny Cat Records. They also managed to tour Mexico City and Japan, playing with such notable bands as Guitarwolf and the 5,6,7,8's. Whatmade this band great was the combination of garage rock and punk rock. Unfortunately that is also what caused them to break up after their Japanese tour. Tina and Erin left to pursue playing garage rock. Larry continues to play punk rock in Jesus Fucking Christ. Justin left to pursue his band, the Clorox Girls.

Jesus Fucking Christ-

Jesus Fucking Christ was formed shortly after the demise of Deadly Weapons. Larry Rickets decided to find the best punk rock musicians he knew in the bay area. First, with a little coercing he convinced Jamie (of Pitch Black fame) to join on drums. Secondly they hounded Dave Ed (of Neurosis fame) to join on bass. Jesus Fucking Christ is described as tough straight ahead old school punk, but there is also slight elements of Negative Approach style hardcore, and Accused style metal riffing. They will be recording a full length album in July and plan on touring in Japan sometime next year.
